OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
We are looking for an energetic and creative person to support and deliver a variety of co-curricular activities for boarding and day students at the School. This includes supervising and mentoring students as they participate in clubs, activities, sports teams, and other after-school co-curricular programs. You will play a key role in our boarding community during the evenings and weekends. This will include but not be limited to leading activities such as sport/music/drama/arts and crafts in line with your preferred skills and interests as well as supervising students and carrying out administrative tasks, as appropriate. The Graduate GAP Assistant works closely with the Head of Boarding and other boarding staff to ensure that all activities align with the school's mission and values, and that they provide a safe and inclusive environment for all students. The position requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, as well as the ability to connect with and motivate students. You will also work in the Boarding Houses as a House Parent, ensuring students’ welfare and safeguarding as well as the healthy and safe running of the house alongside the other House Parents.

You will be committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our students and assist them in their daily lives. Working hours will usually be 4 weekday evenings, and a weekend day on duty. The specific hours are flexible to meet the needs of our students. During half terms and school holidays, you will be available during the day to take trips and lead activities for boarders who wish to remain in residence, by negotiation as required.

REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Head of Boarding. You will work within the framework set by and under the general direction of the Headmaster.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

The role expects the post holder to support and deliver activities for students aged 11-18 which motivate participation and meet the needs of different abilities.

Duties relating to the Graduate GAP Assistant:
Boarding
- To carry out duties in boarding as required.
- To support a suitable programme of wide-ranging activities for boarders in the evenings and at weekends in liaison with the Head of Boarding /Head of House.
- To be aware of the implications of the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools for welfare and pastoral care in the house.
- Deal with all boys’ /girls’ pastoral issues with support from Head of House where necessary.
- Follow the procedures in the Boys’ /Girls’ Boarding House as set by the Head of House.
- Liaising with Heads of House to ensure continuity in the boarding community.
- To support the administration of medicine and first aid to boarders when necessary.
- To keep a record of all incidents, accidents or breakages involving boarders.
- Work closely with the Boarding staff to ensure that the laundry, snacks, furnishings and cleanliness of the boys’ /girls’ boarding house are maintained at a high standard.
- To support the Head of House in updating all records and all notice boards in the house.
- To support the Head of House with room checks, room cleanliness and room inspections.
- To be resident prior to arrival, and after departure of boarders, in order to support boarders arrivals and departures and deal with parental requests in the absence of the house staff.
- After the end of term, to assist with the clearing up and cleaning of the house.
- At the end of the holidays (especially if the house has been used for holiday lettings) to help in the preparation of bedrooms; to carry out a check on furnishings to ensure that all are in good order, repairs carried out, and that rooms are clean and presentable.

General

- To be aware and adhere at all times to the school code of conduct and confidentiality.
- As an Employee of Bosworth Independent School you may be required to provide support and cover across all sites as and when required.
