**Valuation Registration Assurance Surveyor**

**(Profession Support and Assurance Technical Specialist)**

**Location**: Home Based (with possible travel)

**Job Purpose**

The Valuation Registration Assurance Surveyor has responsibility and accountability for efficiently and effectively delivering an education and risk-based programme of profession support and assurance (surveying) activity in the UK and Ireland. The post holder will work as part of a wider team - the Profession Support and Assurance (PSA) team - to deliver this aim.

The PSA team engages with RICS firms and members through direct contact using a variety of tools from face-to-face meetings to IT assisted solutions.

The PSA team is responsible and accountable for delivering the assurance of UK&I RICS members’ competence through activities, comprising:

- Professional engagement, support, and education of regulated members (qualified professionals and regulated firms) through support visits
- Undertaking relevant assurance reviews and risk based, targeted audits where necessary
- Providing support to members and firms with compliance with RIS schemes through meetings and sharing of best practice documents
- Development and delivery of thematic reviews linked to known and emerging market risks
- Sharing specialist / technical knowledge with members (and the rest of the Regulation team)
- Presenting workshops and webinars as an educational tool for the members
- Engaging with key stakeholders

**Key Responsibilities**
- To assist with the delivery of our team strategy for supporting firms and members in complying with Valuer Registration regulation
- To assist firms and members in adopting RICS approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control measures
- To carry out reviews of the professional work of firms and members both online and face to face and to assess compliance with regulation and best practice
- To feed back your findings to the firm or member
- To coach and educate the firm and member in compliance and assist with the creating of suitable framework documents, systems, and processes to support compliance
- To advise on best practice in the delivery of surveying services by firms and members
- To assess and grade the compliance of the firms and members and to write detailed findings reports
- To assist the Investigations team wand the Regulatory Enforcement team as required. To present evidence to Disciplinary Panels as required
- To make presentations at conferences and workshops. To answer questions and share best practice and experience
- To assess information form firm and member annual returns and to assist in forming risk profiles
- To answer firms and member queries
- To write copy for the website, and articles for publication
- To assist in maintaining and updating the processes and documents used by the PSA team in delivering their strategy
- To work as part of a team and with other teams within the Regulation department
- To work collaboratively with other teams within Regulation and other Directorates

**Experience / Skills Required**
- MRICS or FRICS with minimum 10 years relevant post qualification experience
- Valuation Surveyor with current or previous Registered Valuer status and wide experience in providing valuations for secured lending and other purposes within the Red Book
- Effective and successful personal time management and work prioritisation
- Effective management of risk through identification, information analysis and mitigation
- Ability to demonstrate confident, robust, and proportionate decision making, arriving at evidence-based decisions
- Strong personal and excellent written communication skills to influence and inspire. Can tailor message to the audience, to influence or inform with clarity and precision and in plain English, and build engagement and confidence
- Comfortable using / interrogating online systems to input, extract and analyse data
- Strong intellectual capability, curiosity, agile and a good understanding of the issues affecting the sector and the profession
- Presenting to a large number of professional people
- Deep personal self-awareness and knowledge, combined with a track record of embracing feedback and changing and adapting behaviours and/or style to increase effectiveness
- Effective and successful conflict navigation and resolution whilst maintaining personal credibility and that of RICS with multiple external and internal stakeholders, often with conflicting agendas
- The ability to contribute to team cohesion, engagement and collective responsibility and accountability
- A desire to excel, continuously improve and ability to operate well, at pace and with agility, under pressure
- Must be able to use Microsoft Word with sufficient speed and competency to produce own documents and reports. General IT skills and competence with other programmes such as Excel would be beneficial. An aptitude to learn new IT skills is essential
