**Salary**: £11.50 per hour, £23,920 (FTE: 40hrs)
**Hours**: 40 hours per week, a range of contracted hours are available.
**Location**: Barrhead

**Main purpose of post and service description**

This role provides you with the opportunity to help a young lady with a range of support needs live her life safely and independently within the community. K requires support to organise her day, plan activities, build her skills and widen her interests. You will work as part of a dedicated team to help K develop skills for living in her own home and to build networks which will support her to live a full and active life. K requires support to engage with the important people in her life and with the services that will help her thrive and achieve in her life.

You will receive specialist training prior to providing care and support for this young lady to assist you in developing your knowledge and skills.

K has many interests and really enjoys her technology. We will provide support which allows K to grow, develop her independent living skills and live the life she chooses. Staff working with K will work a variety of shifts and will also receive an on-call payment to provide any support out with.

Additional specialist training will be provided to assist you in your role to safely support K to be independent in her home. You will be energetic, committed to the principles of person-centred support and independent living and enjoy being part of a diverse team working to evolve support with other key agencies.

You will be committed to participating in developing and delivering a high
- quality service, maintaining Service Users’ individual rights, whilst acknowledging the organisation’s responsibilities and processes and those of other key agencies. To work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe and compliant support.

To provide support with medication and to work within protocols to deliver safe care. To keep K at the centre of all decisions about her care and life and to be part of a team evolving her care and support into the future.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Leadership and Teamwork**
- To identify a clear, motivating, challenging vision and direction for K’s service under the supervision of the Specialist Team Leader and broader Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Generate enthusiasm and commitment from F through effective coaching and mentoring.
- To work with others to enhance K’s life and build her confidence and skills.

**Networking and influencing**
- Actively participate in team meetings.
- Be able to express your views constructively.
- Ability to work with other agencies for the benefit of the service users and the Organisation.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with the local community and connect K
- Be involved in reviews and contribute positively to the development of K’s support and activities.

**Continuous improvement**
- Offers ideas to generate creative solutions and approaches to issues that affect K.
- Be accepting of change and the benefits this could bring to K.

**Interpersonal Skills**
- Be able to interact appropriately with K within the set organisational standards and protocols
- Be able to constructively confront challenging behaviours in a controlled and effective manner using agreed systems and approaches.

**Communication and Information**
- Maintain documentation and records, consistent with this post using the Tagtronics system.
- When appropriate, assist staff by attending reviews, planning meetings, medical and other appointments and relevant forums in connection with K.

**Professional Boundaries**
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures and ensure that all work is undertaken is in accordance with service users’ values and beliefs.
- Avoid inappropriate situations and actions which could result in a conflict of interest or breaching professional boundaries.
- To adhere to the SSSC code of conduct at all times.

- Adhere to all internal control procedures (financial, fraud, theft, misuse of organisational funds/equipment/premises etc.)
- To follow organisational procedures at all times.

**Managing Staff**
- Be open to feedback, both positive and constructive, from colleagues, managers, service users and external agencies.
- Work strictly within the confines of Cosgrove’s Code of Conduct.
- Be able to maintain calm in stressful situations and recognise the signs of stress and where to seek appropriate assistance.
- Be aware at all times for the need for confidentiality in matters concerning supported people and related issues.

- Engage in all training as required.
- Take responsibility for own workload and time management whilst highlighting any potential issues or concerns.
