How about doing that within a business who have doubled in size in past 2 years, are part of Pan European company with a footprint in 11 countries with €250 million annual turnover and growing
Even better still, post covid they don’t believe you need to be in the office 5 days a week, things are very different here they have embraced hybrid working 2/3 days in the office per week max.
Until now purchasing has been shared by sales and operations, this is where you as Buyer come in, when it comes to purchasing you like to spin multiple plates,you know what a great negotiator you are, you are great at building a rapport..suppliers hide when you call because they know you will manage to get a great deal out of them.
You are right at home in a fast faced inventory management/purchasing environment.

As Buyer the opportunity here is to create and shape your own department in the UK with a network of other procurement professionals already in the business in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic & Portugal (and yes there could be opportunity to visit other sites and meet your European colleagues too)
When the product comes in you know that it needs to be checked, so are one step ahead assigning for checks to be made to ensure that the goods going out meet the companies’ high standards.
They work with SAP within the business, so if you have used SAP that would certainly help you as Buyer, and when it comes to pivot tables and v-look ups you and excel are best friends.
If you have your CIPS qualifications that would be great, however if this is a route you want to take then as a business, they do make investment into training and upskilling, and this would be a qualification they would be prepared to support.
The main product range is Fasteners, so a background in purchasing finished fasteners would be ideal, however this isn’t the be all end all and growth is happening, they are looking into other products that complement their offering and their managed vending solutions put them ahead of their competition, therefore a background in purchasing finished engineering products would work too.
They have positioned themselves in a saturated market and are trying to stand out from the crowd with the infrastructure that they have in place, they are doing pretty well as they are, but imagine what could be done once they have someone like you on top of the whole supply chain process.
The UK leadership team are great, they have lots of ideas of where they want to take this and what they want to do but they need your “know how” to make it happen.
