Due to maternity leave, we require an experienced Payroll Officer to join the business on a temporary 12-18 month contract. You will be responsible for the payroll for the Encore Group as well as for several clients.

You will work closely with a number of departments to ensure that the payroll is processed on time, effectively and accurately. This role requires great attention to detail and an ability to communicate internally and externally with a number of different stakeholders. Assisting the finance team with other ad hoc tasks will also form part of the role.

**What you’ll do**

Working alongside the current financial accounting team, the key responsibilities include:

- Processing of payroll for the Group as well as for several clients - over 400 employees in total
- Dealing with changes i.e. starters, leavers, SPP, SMP etc.
- Dealing with overtime, expense claims and bonuses
- Working closely with the HR team to ensure all employee records are up to date and salary changes are processed correctly
- Uploading BACS payments to bank
- Responsible for submitting year end reports to HMRC
- Data transfer and manipulation from Cascade to Excel
- Creation of the payroll journal in Excel and importing into QuickBooks
- Pension administration including creating and submitting monthly reports to company pension providers
- Raising payroll recharge invoices to clients where applicable
- Dealing with any payroll related queries
- Other ad hoc finance team duties
- Other general administrative duties

**What you'll bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in a relevant field is desirable, but not required.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll
- A background in a finance role such as bookkeeping is also desirable but not required

**Skills**:

- IT literate - strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Iris Cascade Payroll is desirable
- Experience of pension administration and auto-enrolment is desirable
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational, project and time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and can manage own workload

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months

Pay: Up to £35,000.00 per year
