Are you passionate about food? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Catering Assistants to join our Food & Beverage team in Warwick Retail.

The University of Warwick has recently developed a new vision and strategic plan for food, drink and shopping experiences provided to its large and diverse customer base of students, staff and visitors. Delivery starts with the establishment of Warwick Food Group, a department of specialists and operators, passionate about people, planet and good food. Our ultimate goal is to transform our menus, facilities and customer experiences so that more people can benefit from a fresh take on food that nourishes body and mind.

It's an exciting time to join us This winter, we’re refurbishing and re-opening the kitchen to operate as a central production unit, producing fresh food for sale across campus. Throughout 2024 the team will be expanding its operations into outlets across the campus, The kitchen will become the ‘engine’ of our food and beverage operations.

**Catering Assistant Responsibilities**:

- Assisting with the preparation and cooking of simple recipes, which includes washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry, and meat.
- Cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established high standards of hygiene.
- Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
- Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
- Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.
- Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.
- Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Cook's instructions.
- Stirring and heating soups and sauces as well as preparing hot beverages.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to demonstrate your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Your excellent communication skills and commitment to customer care will allow you to deliver an outstanding level of service. Working both independently and as part of a team, you'll prioritize your tasks, have excellent organisation skills, and take responsibility for stock management.

While prior experience in a similar food environment is desirable, we also value a flexible and positive attitude. If you’re an aspiring chef looking for your first step in to catering this role is for you. Possessing an Essential Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent, as well as knowledge of food hygiene regulations, is highly desirable.

We have the following contracts available:
6 x 36.5 Hours

2 x 25 Hours

1 x 32 Hours

1 x 30 Hours

Shifts operate on a working rotational basis, that covers 5 days over 7. Shifts can cover between 6:30am and 5:00pm.

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: From £21,828.00 per year
