Job description

**This vacancy is only open to North Somerset Council employees and agency workers contracted to North Somerset Council.**

**About the role**

The office base will be at the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare, but the person will carry out their duties across all of North Somerset.

The post holder will ensure officers safety and that they are briefed and debriefed each day. You will train new and existing staff and carry out enforcement checks as required and ensure daily checks of streets that are patrolled and car parks take place. You will help monitor, supervise, and inspect maintenance works as necessary. You will be involved with any investigations that may be required in respect to appeals and internal audits. You will also be required to carry out normal duties of Civil Enforcement Officers as below.

The post holder will be expected to patrol Council car parks and on street parking bays/restrictions and offer a consistent and fair approach to enforcement and management. You will operate as an individual and with other team members and act as Council ambassadors, offering help and guidance to the public over a range of issues.

Duties will include:

- Checking vehicles in car parks and on-street enforcement areas to ensure they comply with the parking order
- Issuing parking enforcement penalty charge notices and collecting evidence
- Maintenance and checking of pay and display machines, signage and car parks
- Vehicle marshalling
- Enforcement of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO’s)
- Ensure visitors receive excellent standards of customer care and professionalism
- Managing a small team and being a first point of contact for questions
- Ensuring information is relayed to all team members
- Completing briefings daily

**About you**

Applicants should have some enforcement background including managing small teams. They must be prepared to take on the full responsibility of the role when working outside of normal core hours, this includes the health and safety of the public and staff members. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be professional at all times, particularly when dealing with potential confrontational situations.
