About the BMA

The British Medical Association (BMA) is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK. We represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students. The BMA speaks for doctors at all stages of their careers and is a leading voice on a wide range of professional and political issues affecting medicine and health.

Ensuring that the BMA negotiates on behalf of its members on pay and contractual matters is a critical function of the National Negotiations and Representation team, so too is ensuring that our national negotiating committees and internal structures work effectively and dynamically.

To be successful as a Senior Policy Adviser you'll have:

- Previous experience in policy with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
- Excellent written skills with experience of drafting and presenting policy reports and briefings
- Experience of initiating and taking forward work in relevant policy areas
- Experience of providing project support
- The ability to work flexibly and have the practical aptitude to think quickly and respond to demands in a positive manner
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to form strategic relationships across the organisation and with external contacts
- Ability to challenge and respond constructively to policy proposals
