This new role will build on the successes of the current NHS SPS Pharmacy Integration Project, working with the project lead and SPS colleagues to extend SPS outputs (webpages, webinars, podcasts) to support pharmacy professionals in primary care and community pharmacy. The post is for 0.40 WTE on a fixed term contract or secondment for 1 year.

**The post holder will**:
Understand the context and challenges in primary care in order to support the pharmacy workforce, translating national drivers into local practice.

Build strong relationships and network with other experts and disciplines, both as individuals and organisations, to identify and support good practice, ensuring a person-centred approach at all times.

The post is hosted by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; however, the post holder can work remotely. Flexible working arrangements are available.

NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) supports the NHS to develop best practice systems of work-related to buying, making, and using medicines. The service provides leadership, instructive and informative specialist input and operational support to the sourcing, supply, and use of medicines across the system. In Medicines Use and Safety, we are a well-respected team interpreting legislation and guidance for NHS organisations and practitioners in England, promoting safe patient care across the entire medicines pathway. Closely connected with front line colleagues we work with policy makers, regulators, and strategic leaders, responding with agility and flexibility to share local expertise within our extensive clinical networks.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

Delivers agreed priorities, working in collaboration when appropriate with other divisions of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service, to promote medicines optimisation and medicines safety in primary care. This will involve working across all care sectors in line with the Pharmacy Integration Programme. This will include strategic vision and leadership to deliver service improvements, wide dissemination of innovation, implementation support, and the development of indicators which support the monitoring of performance improvement.

Facilitates and encourages collaboration on medicines optimisation in primary care as part of pharmacy services across England. In particular to work with the Pharmacy Integration Programme Team at NHS England, ICS (Integrated Care System) Chief Pharmacists and Pharmacy Leads across primary, secondary care and community pharmacy to ensure prescribing, patient pathways involving medicines and pharmaceutical services are patient-focused and provided seamlessly across the healthcare system.

Develops and promotes networking of clinical pharmacy practitioners working in primary care, supporting integrated work and deliver the highest levels of quality, outcomes and productivity in services that involve medicines.

Acts as the first point of contact for primary care issues within the MUS and wider SPS team, ensuring that all agreed outputs are transferable across the country, thus facilitating a do once and share philosophy.
