Democratic Services Manager

We are on the lookout for a Democratic Services Manager to join our well-established client in Oxford. The pay is between £57,857 to £60,975 per annum This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday with no weekends. This is a hybrid position working oneday in the office a week.
Our client is the elected body responsible for the most strategic local government services in the county. These services include but are not limited to education, social services, public health, highway maintenance, waste disposal and more.
**About the role**:
As a Democratic Services Manager you are responsible:
- Leading a team of 10 and representing its interests and those of its members.
- Monitoring and reviewing standards and practices.
- Day to Day advice and guidance on duties in the context of corporate objectives
- Ensure the health and safety of all members of staff and ensure a safe system of working is in operation.
- Ensure formal appraisals are conducted 9setting objectives for individuals and the team collectively0 and appropriate training & development needs/opportunities are identified.
- Manage performance and deal with specific personnel issues.
- Manage recruitment and selection.
- Ensure that all relevant corporate policies are implemented including financial regulations, HR and corporate governance policies.
- Provide timely and accurate research and support to the organisations monitoring officer with due confidentiality as necessary.
- Deliver advice, interventions, and solutions on behalf of the monitoring officer on best governance practice and compliance issues; to resolve problems at an early stage, with services, senior managers, and members.
