Preston, United Kingdom Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Being part of our amazing #TeamED is wonderful enoughbut we also want you to supply fantastic support to all our Junior Nursing team members. We want a strong and visible role model - we want you

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Emergency Nurse to come and join our #TeamED as a Band 6 Clinical Support Educator for our Junior Nurses. This is a role relatively new to our department with an aim to support and improve the care that we provide to all our patients. If you have a passion for Emergency Nursing and education and support of junior nursing staff this could be the role for you.

It’s all about #TeamED here and we are so really proud of this - our colleagues feel like family so it’s a pleasure to work with them every day. Our Team consists of, Advanced Nurse Clinicians, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Consultants, Trauma Technicians and our fabulous Senior Healthcare Assistants who support us all the way.

Within this role you will be working alongside nursing staff many of whom are new to the Emergency Department environment, and you will be offering support and guidance during their practice and learning development. We have an established education team led by a Band 7 nurse who will offer support to you to identify individual learning needs of staff, completing competencies and assisting in training activities.

You will be given designated new starters that you will support from day 1 until they are fully signed off and ready to become a real-life ED (Emergency Departments) Staff Nurse.

We really can deal with everything and anything so the opportunity for you to bring your skills, knowledge and experience to our Junior Nursing team would be second to none. #TeamED really value the personal skills, experience, and qualities that every member of our team brings to us, creating a diverse, knowledgeable, and supportive team who feel motivated and able to influence the future direction of the service.

We are a forward thinking department with a real emphasis on staff development and training and need your skills to enhance our already amazing team.

We already have a variety of departmental study days offered from the Educators which you will be a part of:
Manchester Triage Systems

Minor injury assessment and management

Resus Training

We also have in situ simulations carried out on the shop floor and lead by the North West Human Factors lead - so there is always something new to learn, cascade and get involved in

Acute paediatric care - we have a dedicated Paediatric nursing team with their own area within the ED department

We’ve two amazing Emergency Departments, Preston & Chorley all working as one amazing #TeamED. Its exciting as staff get to work across both locations, learning lots of new skills along the way. We can promise you it’s not going to be dull 12-hour shifts are our norm and the feedback we get from our amazing team members is that they really value them and the work life balance that they bring, when they are not at the forefront of emergency patient care they have time to spend with family and friends.

Approximately 124,000 patients per year come through our hospital doors, nearly 18,000 of these are children and over 700 are major trauma patients. Did we mention that our Preston site is a Regional Adult Major Trauma centre for the Northwest - the Air Ambulance helicopter can be seen regularly landing and taking off, bringing people from across the area for us to treat.

You could be helping newly qualified nurses be part of a team of skilled specialists who deal with some of the most critically injured patients. Therefore, knowledge of trauma, paediatrics and Manchester Triage would be expected as these are key areas of learning for any new starters.

If you want to know more about this post and our team you can contact us for further information, we would love to talk to you about this fabulous opportunity
