Lambeth, United Kingdom Harris Federation Full time

**Summary**
We are looking for an Assistant Principal to assist the Head of School and Executive Principal in the strategic and operational management, development and leadership of Harris Clapham Sixth Form, and ensure the achievement of our ethos, aims and objectives within the context of the Academy’s strategic and development plans.

You will support and work closely with the Head of School and academy leadership group and will gain experience in and be able to contribute to all aspects of academy improvement. You will be an experienced senior leader or talented middle leader, ready to develop your suite of leadership skills. You will be flexible in growing in new areas of responsibility, and ideally have experience of working in a similar inner-city context. You will be deeply committed to improving academic outcomes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, broadening horizons and inspiring our students to strive for, and achieve, great things.

**About Us**
The vision for Harris Clapham Sixth Form is expressed simply as "Be the best". The academy will be the best place to work and the best place to learn. This is because everyone, all our staff and students develop to be the best version of themselves that they possibly can.

There are three core values that sum up our ambition for our students. Our values help make sure that our students continue to grow into well-rounded and highly successful young people. We fully support students and provide them with every opportunity to nurture and develop our values. There are three core values:
**Courage**

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because, without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” - Maya Angelou

Courage - so that our students:

- will be the best version of themselves that they can be
- champion inclusion and make the world a better place
- persevere and successfully meet the challenges of 6th form studies.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

**Confidence**

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." - Helen Keller

Confidence - so that our students:

- believe in themselves and what they can achieve
- use their range of talents to the full
- help shape their community and be role models for modern Britain.

**Commitment**

“Commitment is an act, not a word.” Jean-Paul Sartre

Commitment - so that our students
- ‘walk the talk’ and have the discipline to make things happen
- work hard and take actions to achieve their full potential
- think and act positively for others and not just themselves.

These core values are central to all work. They combine to help us ensure that our students become vibrant, healthy and well-rounded young people, fully prepared for what lies ahead.

In addition, at Harris Clapham Sixth Form we want our students to be hugely ambitious, to dream bigger and to realise their aspirations, with the help of great teaching, a rigorous curriculum and a fantastic extra-curricular offer that broadens horizons and sparks curiosity.

We are a community who work together for the greater good of our academy; there is a culture of mutual respect and kindness between staff and students.

**Main Areas of Responsibility** Main Areas of Responsibility are likely to include**:

- work with the Head of School and academy leadership group to achieve the shared vision for the academy
- play a major role in formulating the aims and objectives of the academy in establishing the policies through which they will be achieved and in monitoring progress towards their achievement
- lead the development and maintenance of a high-quality positive learning environment to raise standards
- take responsibility for overseeing curriculum planning and development in assigned faculties
- ensure students choose appropriate courses and benefit from induction, high-quality advice and guidance
- and medium-term
- ensure the entitlement of all students to have equal access to and participation in all aspects of the curriculum
- assist in monitoring, evaluating and reviewing classroom practice and promote improvement strategies
- establish, and maintain, the highest possible standards of behaviour, attendance and personal development for students
- demonstrate and articulate high expectations and set aspirational targets for the whole Academy community
- be a role model in embodying our values of courage, confidence and commitment
- The specific remit of the post will be decided on the strengths of the individual but could include remits such as: curriculum and timetabling; assessment reporting and recording; SEND; professional development; exams; behavior and attitudes; academic literacy; UCAS and careers.
