An exciting position has arisen within Scottish Water to join the East Wastewater Operations Team and have frontline involvement in operating wastewater treatment works as a Senior Operator within the Don North area.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high performing leadership team within the Lanarkshire Wastewater Operations area, who are dedicated to maintaining our asset compliance and protecting our environment.

In wastewater, our continued investment in our sewer network and at our wastewater treatment works; which serve communities across Scotland; will help ensure that we continue to play our part in improving the standards of Scotland’s bathing waters and aquatic environment.

About the Role

In this role you will work as part of an experienced team who are responsible for ensuring that we meet our responsibilities in protecting the environment. You will support the team to monitor and maintain processes within the site and ensure that all relevant recording and reporting is completed. You will also operate and adjust processes in response to the results of samples and tests undertaken and ensure regular maintenance is undertaken to enable optimum operation of the site. You will work alongside the Team Leader for the area, to support and develop all members of the team in their role. On occasion, you will be required to operate and maintain assets.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.- Be confident to work on your own, taking responsibility for ensuring regular tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient way.- Have a strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record information and to spot changes in monitoring records which may need addressed.- Have strong problem-solving skills and a dedication to find a solution to any issues that arise within the site.- Have experience or an understanding of working within a strong Health & Safety culture to ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.- Be a quick learner, with the ability to use new computer systems and on-line learning modules which are essential to the role.- Be a strong team player, who can work well with others to achieve common goals.- Operating and maintaining Wastewater treatment works & Pumping Station assets- To ensure all information is accurately and timeously recorded for audit purposes- To provide emergency cover to deal with all infrastructure problems by way of participation in an out-of-hours standby rota

Essential Criteria:
- Experience / understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture- Full current driving licence - the post involves lone working- Strong problem-solving skills- With full training and risk assessment the role holder will be working with confined spaces; lone working; remote working; deep water; animals; noise, etc. This involves successful completion of occupational health assessment confirming suitability to work in such environments.

Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment works and pumping station assets and strong problem-solving skills- Working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

Due to the nature of our customer focused business, you will be required to participate in out of hours and standby working once suitably trained.
