Wincle Church of England Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic cook to join our hard-working and friendly team. Our school kitchen uses local suppliers to provide delicious lunches for the school and nursery. We are looking for someone with a passion for cooking who enjoys working in a school environment.

We are a small, rural primary school set in the idyllic Peak District National Park. Our mission statement is ‘Shine like stars’ from the Bible book of Philippians and through this, we encourage all of our children and staff to shine like stars in their work, attitude, behaviour and relationships.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen, and this includes ordering of stock, preparing and cooking homemade school lunches for approx. 70 - 80 pupils per day, working to a food cost budget and following all food safety procedures.

We are looking for someone who can further develop the catering service with marketing initiatives including theme days and parents’ evenings/taster sessions.

**Number of hours**: 18 hours (6 hours a day over three days - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

**Rate of pay**: £11.18 an hour

**Number of weeks**: 39 weeks a year (term time only)
- Please note that hours can be flexible to support school drop offs and pick-ups. We also have childcare available for children aged 2+.
- Produce, prepare and serve as required meals considering special dietary and cultural needs.
- Manage on a day-to-day basis allocated staff and material resources to meet financial targets.
- Undertake the preparation of dining room furniture, cleaning of premises, plant and equipment.
- Report accidents, breakdown of equipment and Food Safety and Health and Safety hazards.
- Promote customer care and liaises with other staff, pupils and parents to achieve the delivery and standard of service required.
- Attend training sessions as specified during term-time.
- Contribute to menu planning and to the overall development of the catering service.
- Undertake training to ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and health and safety legislation.
- Willingness to take personal responsibility for standard of work carried out.
