Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant

Overview:
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the education and development of young children within the early years foundation stage (EYFS). Working closely with the class teacher, you will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of the children.

**Responsibilities**:
Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in preparing and delivering engaging lessons and activities that align with the EYFS curriculum. Help create a positive learning atmosphere where children feel motivated to explore, learn, and develop.

Individual and Group Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to children who may require additional attention or have specific learning needs. Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.

Safeguarding: Maintain a vigilant and safe environment for the children, ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing at all times. Follow safeguarding policies and procedures diligently.

Daily Routines: Help with daily routines, such as meal times, toileting, and getting ready for outdoor play. Encourage good hygiene practices and foster independence where appropriate.

Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing and organizing learning materials, resources, and displays to enhance the learning environment and meet the curriculum requirements.

Observations and Assessment: Observe and record children's progress and behavior, contributing to the overall assessment and reporting process. Share observations with the class teacher and relevant staff.

Parental Communication: Establish positive relationships with parents and guardians, providing them with updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns or queries in a professional and supportive manner.

Inclusive Environment: Promote diversity and inclusivity within the classroom, celebrating individuality and fostering a sense of belonging among all children.

Behavior Management: Support the implementation of effective behavior management strategies to encourage positive behavior and maintain a harmonious learning environment.

Continuous Professional Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in early years education and best practices.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a relevant early years or teaching assistant qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is advantageous.
- Understanding of the early years foundation stage (EYFS) curriculum and its principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and children.
- Patient, compassionate, and nurturing approach to working with young learners.
- Ability to adapt to the varying needs of individual children and support their development accordingly.
- Familiarity with safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of children.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to creating a positive learning environment for all children.

**Salary**: £21,600.00-£22,600.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Supplemental pay types:

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Newham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
