Hgv Mechanic

**Job Purpose**:
To maintain, inspect, repair and test the Company fleet of vehicles to prescribed standards in accordance with the Department of transport, manufacturer and other legislation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Diagnosing vehicles faults manually or with aids of software and digital tools
- Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service lorries, including inspection, tyres rotation and oil change
- Ensure all service records are accurate and up to date
- Install and fix new vehicle accessories
- Maintain a database for spare parts in the repair garage
- To attend breakdowns or accident damaged vehicles and assess
- Prepare cost and time estimates for work done
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including company Health & Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, Housekeeping Policy, and the Equal Opportunities Policy.

**Job Requirement**:

Essential_**
- Qualified mechanic with experience in working with HGV and light commercial maintenance and repair
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Knowledge of safe working practice of workshop health and safety requirement
- Capable of recording work accurately on service records
- Positive can-do attitude is essential along with the ability to work to a high standard without supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team and have excellent time management skills

**_ Desirable:_**
- Driving licence
- HGV Class 1 licence
