**Wedding and Events Assistant**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Wedding & Events Assistant**

**Hours**: Casual (zero hours) contract

Working hours may include some early morning starts for set up and evening work for weddings, events, and charity activities. Regular Weekend working including late night finishes.

**Multiple posts available**

**Pay**:National Minimum Wage (NMW) National Living wage (NLW) for over 23’s.

**Line Manager**:Venue and Events Manager

(Tasks will be allocated on a day to day basis by Wedding and Events
Coordinators / Venue and Events Manager)

**Purpose of the Post**:To work at weddings and events at the Northorpe Barn and Northorpe Hall.
Tasks include preparing and setting up the barn, meeting and helping guests and serving food and drink to make sure guests have the best possible experience during their visit. Assistants will also have some responsibility for cleaning the
Barn area and kitchen. Much of the role is practical and you will need to be physically able to help in the moving of furniture and food service.

**Context**:
Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust is an independent charity working to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of children and young people facing challenges. The Northorpe Hall Trading
Company (trading as The Northorpe Barn) runs weddings and events at weekends in the barn. All profits from the Barn return to the Trust to support its charity objectives. This role supports these events.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Weddings & Events**
- Front of house preparation and set up for weddings and events. Including, moving tables and chairs, making sure the barn is clean and tidy and laying tables for service.
- Some basic food preparation may be required plus working alongside 3rd party providers.
- Welcoming guests to the barn, including helping with access, parking and any questions or queries demonstrating a polite and friendly attitude.
- Food service including 3 course meals, buffets, and hog roasts etc.
- Clearing away food service items, washing up and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy
- Removal of tables and chairs etc after a wedding or event
- Always Maintaining food hygiene and health and safety principles

**Preparing the Site for use**
- Ensure the barn is clean, welcoming, and safe and ready to welcome guests.
- Ensure outdoor space is clean and ready for guests & visitors.
- Ensure the barn is set up and ready for each separate event as per the instructions provided on requirements forms (wedding & event plans)
- Following Health and safety guidance in including COSHH and dealing and reporting health and safety risks.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

Wedding & Events Assistants support the hosting of weddings and events at the Northorpe Barn and
Northorpe Hall. Front of house service including meeting and helping guests and visitors and the serving of food and refreshments. Set up and preparation of our barn and rooms for Weddings and events.

Set up and preparation may also include Food preparation, previous experience would be an advantage though training will be provided.

Assistants will be responsible for clean up after events and cleaning the Barn area and its public spaces and our Barn Kitchen. The Events Assistant help to ensure the Barn, its public spaces and the Barn kitchens, meeting are safe, clean, and ready to use by visitors, charity staff and volunteers, including weddings and events at weekends.

Ideally, you will have some experience in a customer facing role and understand the importance of great customer service and experience. You will be able to communicate face to face with a range of people, including colleagues, wedding guests and charity staff. Your role will also include cleaning and preparing spaces for visitors and events. You will understand safe practice in use of cleaning materials and in moving furniture or other heavy items. This is physically demanding work, and our listed building has steps and uneven surfaces which present a challenge to those with limited mobility.

Our site and venue is open 7 days per week with most events taking place on Weekends You will be willing to work flexibly by agreement. There will be regular weekend working including Saturday and
Sunday especially during the summer months. There may be some work available during weekdays by arrangement.
