**Job Summary**
You will ensure the safety of navigation and the protection of the environment within the limits of the Port of Dover in accordance with the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code.
You will monitor and regulate the movement of all vessels within the port and to advise masters/pilots of passing vessels or other movements during their passage.
You will also be responsible for allocating berths to vessels entering or manoeuvring within the port in accordance with schedules where pre-planned. Arranging in conjunction with the Duty Harbour Master the allocation of berths for unscheduled arrivals including lay-bys for repairs, de-storing etc.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- GCSE or equivalent, Grade 4 or above in Maths and English
- Valid CO103/1 certificate
- Previous experience within VTS, or comparable industry or Officer of the Watch as defined by STCW
- Have an analytical and technical aptitude and be able to demonstrate good spatial awareness
- Confident and calm under pressure in a safety critical environment
- Being able to work shifts and overtime when required
- Must be able to attend call outs in an emergency
- Proficient with MS Office
- Previous VTS Operator experience is desirable
