Crewe, United Kingdom YMCA Crewe Full time

This is an exciting role that was created through consultation with young people living in our accommodation on Gresty Road.

The young people we consulted with said that they feel they are often not fairly represented to the public. Often this leads to misunderstanding, or services that are designed for young people, not by them.

The appointed person will work with people aged 16-25 who have stayed in a YMCA or similar project to create pieces of work that allow them to meaningfully share their experiences, including a set of educational tools for people in both public and professional settings. They will also help YMCA Crewe to examine our power dynamics and structures and share the learning from the project with other organisations.

We are looking for someone who
- Believes that everyone has potential
- Is an inspiration to others
- Can work creatively, think on their feet and refuses to give up
- Has the highest aspirations for those people with the fewest choices
- Retains a positive attitude in the face of daily challenges

The post holder will report directly to the Head of Housing and Support but work closely with a team of committed Housing Coaches.

This is a part time post, 20 hours per week, and will include some evening and weekend work, as many of the young people living at YMCA Crewe are at college or working. The salary is £11.84 per hour (to be reviewed in April 2023).

We are passionate and enthusiastic about our work and love an energetic “can do” attitude in staff
