An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and talented **Product Manager** to join the **Category Team** in a highly successful business that is prominent in its field in the UK. This is a **maternity cover for 12 months**. As **Product Manager** your role is to support a Category Manager to deliver ranging, taking ownership of administrative tasks for the category to ensure ranging is on boarded within agreed time frames and presented effectively on the website. With direction from the Category Manager assume accountability for the successful development and management of selected drop ship suppliers including ranging, pricing, product performance and product quality.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that suitable and accurate product information (including descriptions, images and video) is received from our suppliers.
- Responsibility for creating new product templates and uploading products onto the website.
- Keep all relevant product information accurate and up to date, maintaining the integrity of our systems and website.
- Manage selected supplier relationships, including undertaking regular review meetings.
- Take direction from the Category Manager to source product gaps in category or investigate new opportunities with drop ship suppliers, producing new product presentations for sign off with the Category Manager.
- Liaise with suppliers to create a range and product offer that is distinctive against our competition, and suitable for our customers.
- Undertake comprehensive product review, considering all aspects including packaging, damages, freight considerations, supplier stability, service, sustainability and pricing.
- Liaise with the Category Manager to determine supplier terms including rebates, marketing contributions, promotions etc.
- Proactively monitor agreed key competitors for pricing, promotional activity and range gaps/opportunities to maximise our market share, making recommendations to drive sales growth.
- Work to all agreed product management processes in a timely and accurate fashion and using/completing all relevant documentation as directed by the Category Manger or Category Lead.
- Experienced Category Assistant seeking career progression (min 1 year experience)
- Professional, motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Comfortable working with data and reports, interpreting sales and performance
- Experience preparing and presenting reports to assist Category managers with decision making
- Willingness to conduct market research and competitive analysis to better understand the needs of our customers
- Able to prioritise and work to agreed deadlines
- The ability to work as part of a team and to take individual initiative
- Comfortable working in a fast paced dynamic environment and adaptable to changing market conditions
- Strong Excel skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
