Contract Ringer

**Purpose of post**:To undertake ringing activities at Rutland Water Nature Reserve and nearby projects as directed by the Species and Recording Officer

**Employment term**:this role is a 8-month Contract from the 1st of April to the 30th of November 2023

**Hours of work**: 21 per week, flexible working to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends; time off in lieu is given

**Main responsibilities of the post**:

- To work with the Species Officer and the Rutland Water Ringing Group (RWRG) to help coordinate bird ringing activities across the site.
- To operate 2 long-established CES ringing sites at RWNR and support other mist net ringing operations.
- Support the Species Officer with ringing activities across site. Including monitoring of large hole nest boxes ie: Barn Owl, Kestrel & Tawny Owl.
- Support the Species Officer & RWRG with the monitoring of two artificial Sand Martin banks for purposes of nest recording, ringing and RAS studies, monitoring & ringing of terns, gulls and waders.
- To order and maintain rings and equipment as is appropriate.
- To ensure appropriate sharing and dissemination of biological data.
- Assist with creation of a ringing report.
