Beauty Therapy Lecturer

**Job purpose**:
To deliver and support learning through high quality teaching and assessments to ensure all students successfully achieve their Beauty Therapy qualifications.
**Main Responsibilities**:
1) To complete induction process with students, providing course outlines and timetables, ensuring all Academy agreements and enrollment documentation are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
2) To fully prepare Academy learning resources, lesson plans and schemes of work to meet course objectives and create a professional and positive learning environment.
3) To deliver course theory using creative and flexible strategies to meet different learning styles and ensure learners are fully engaged at all times.
4) To fully research course content and use up to date resources to ensure learning is enjoyable, interesting, relevant, challenging and appropriate.
5) To support students to develop their practical skills through demonstrating correct techniques. To guide students through practical assessments, providing clear and effective verbal and written feedback. To arrange online assessments, provide results and reschedule as required to support successful completion.
6) To record student progress through individual course topics and assignments. To arrange regular meetings with students to undertake continuous action planning to develop knowledge, improve skills and meet course deadlines.
7) To guide learners through their portfolio building and development at all stages of the course, completing units when all the evidence has been assessed and achieved. To ensure all student portfolios and associated paperwork is effectively maintained and up to date at all times.
8) Following completion of courses to provide portfolio 'sign off' with each student ensuring all assignments are marked, dated and logged with all signatures provided.
9) To issue course evaluations and collect certification claims ensuring course completions are fully recorded and submitted.
10) To maintain quality by following IQA & EQA standards. To report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups to the IQA and attend meetings as required to maintain and improve quality initiatives.
11) To be fully committed to retention and achievement rates set by the Academy and to obtain a consistent record of 'Good', or above, observation grade in line with OFSTED.
12) To fully participate in Academy meetings to support reviews of standards and identify Quality Improvement Plans. To be proactive in supporting the Academy to improve course development and delivery.
13) To facilitate learning by establishing effective relationships with students, maintaining professional conduct at all times.
14) To inspire students throughout the course to deepen their knowledge and acquire further skills by providing active encouragement for ongoing studies. Following successful completion of the course to encourage progress into either further learning or sustainable employment.
**Person Specification**
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement (or equivalent)
- Relevant Teaching Qualification
- Level 2 & 3 Beauty Therapy Qualifications and relevant qualifications for courses taught
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Competencies:
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and an excellent timekeeper
- Discretion with all students to ensure privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the Academy
- Excellent Knowledge of MS office
- Ability to use own initiative to resolve problems
