Senior Auditor

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a professional internal audit team, who are highly committed to providing an excellent service, undertaking a wide range of audits across the Council’s activities, with the aim of supporting the council in managingan effective business and achieving its objectives.

Applicants must be Accounting Technician qualified or equivalent with proven experience ideally in an internal audit environment and/or local government environment, with an opportunity to attain the Chartered IIA qualification.

You will be enthusiastic, competent and display well developed communications and interpersonal skills, commitment, proven ability to use initiative and judgement with a willingness to contribute to developing the Internal Audit service.

Internal audit assists the council by evaluating the adequacy of governance, risk management, controls and use of resources through its planned and unplanned audit work and recommending improvements where necessary.

Applicants are required to have knowledge of internal audit methodology, preparing reports as well as internal control environments together with established interpersonal and communication skills. The position involves undertaking a wide range of auditsacross all council services, to include scoping, and preparing a risk-based audit programme of work, testing, reporting and discussing findings with senior management.
