Part-time Receptionist Required.

communication skills both written and verbal, excellent IT skills with a willingness to learn the IT systems used, good organisational skills, ability to work as part of a team and also independently. Must be able to undertake additional hours to cover staff absence e.g. holiday. Ability to be professional in their approach at all times.

Knowledge of EMIS or Docman is preferred but not essential.

**Salary**: Negotiable based on experience

**A valid driving licence is essential**

**Medical Receptionist Position**

**Reception - Job Description**

Hours of Work: 27 hours per week

Tues (9-6) Wed. (8-1), Thurs.(9-5) and Friday (9-6)

**Salary**: Dependent on experience

Responsible to: Practice Manager

Responsible for: No staff supervision required

Main Purpose of

Post: To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal

point of communication between patients, doctors and

other medical staff.

Overall - the Receptionist shall form one of the office team and contribute to the daily office routine helping to cover the receptions area on a rotational basis to cover the opening hours of the Surgery as well as undertaking administrative and general office duties as directed.

More specifically the role shall encompass the duties associated with the smooth running of the reception area.

**2. General Office Duties**
- To cover reception on a rotational basis during the surgery opening hours
- To assist in any administrative task as required
- To be involved in the training / support role of students and registrars/visitors to the Practice
- Support multidisciplinary team e.g. District Nurse, Practice Nurse, CTAC, Pharmacotherapy, ANP and Community Mental Health Team Staff

**3. Day to day reception duties**
- To answer the telephone promptly and politely, telephoning patients when requested.
- Ability to use current software package
- Ensure that patients without appointments but who need “urgent consultation” are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Signpost patients appropriately depending on their needs
- Process samples via our on line software; Order Comms
- To deal with patients at the front desk in a polite and courteous manner.
- Process all incoming mail and workflow accordingly to GPs
- Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors
- To make appointments accurately for both Doctors, the Nurse and other members of the community team using both manual and computerised systems.
- To process requests for repeat prescriptions promptly and accurately
- To take messages for visits and advice, recording all relevant information at all times
- To undertake photocopying duties as requested
- To manage the system of results arriving in both paper and computerised format
- To download and manage contacts from the out of hours service
- To arrange ambulance and volunteer transport for patients as requested
- To undertake administrative and office duties as directed
- Prepare incoming and outgoing mail as required
- Work as and support team colleagues

**This position will require flexibility to help cover mornings during holidays**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Expected hours: 27 per week
