This team is for young people with complex presentations. The team is a combination of Specialist Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Lived Experience, Psychology, Art Psychotherapy and Community & Peer Support Workers and there is a ethos of shared team working. The role requires a highly skilled practitioner who has exceptional skills in the clinical management of young people with emotional, social and interpersonal difficulties often with complex trauma.

Within PACT (3 days per week) the post holder will be expected to hold a small clinical caseload, and be part of the DBT team (2 days per week) and undertake the DBT training delivered by the British Isles as part of the role. The work is city wide and MDT based.

The Personality and Complex Trauma Team provides trauma informed care to children and young people with complex and high-risk presentations. The principal duties are:
Manage a small case load 3 days per week in PACT

Assessment and collaborative care planning to empower young people to reach their goals.

Implement and monitor care with the young person using highly specialist skills based on trauma informed care and trauma-based psycho education and skills.

Liaison with internal and external services

Build trusting and effective therapeutic relationships with young people to help support distress and foster hope.

Manage risk and empowerment of young people to be active within this process.

Provides day-to-day supervision and/or clinical supervision to others.

Provides line management to more junior staff

Developing in-depth formulations

Offering consultations to wider FTB services

Creating a space to think about young people within stressed NHS services

We enhance the care of the Core Teams and offer shorter term stabilisation work to those young people leaving hospital or under Urgent Care. We also offer some longer-term work to those with complex needs where appropriate.

The DBT Team part of the role is 2 days per week, you will attend Consult, business and referrals meetings and support the group on rotation. We offer regular assessment slots and individual work to support the group. We have monthly supervision to support you in this role.
