**APPRENTICE ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT**:

Following the progression and development of our teams in Shepton Mallet we have an opportunity for an Apprentice Accounts Assistant to join our team.

**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Accounts Assistant at Lyons Bowe supports the other Account team members in the provision of Financial Services to the firm by providing competent and efficient assistance in legal cashiering/book-keeping duties. You will need the ability to undertake a busy workload, dealing with a broad range of general accounts whilst always ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:

- Administration_
- Day to day processing and auto reconciliation of the Client and Office accounts in line with SAR and VAT regulations
- Ensuring all daily work is dealt with accurately and efficiently as per the daily work schedules set to include Client Receipts and Payments, Office Receipts and Payments, Billing, Supplier and Nominal Ledgers, checking Completion Packs and end of day balancing and reporting
- Ensuring all processes are followed as per the workflows produced
- Running any Accounts reports that are required
- Administration of the online banking system
- Ensure work issues or problems are dealt with immediately and reported to the Accounts Manager
- Answering all telephone calls without delay and dealing with staff queries
- Compliance_
- To assist the firm in adhering to the Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Ensuring compliance with the firms’ policies and procedures
- General Responsibilities _
- To act with integrity and honesty, and in line with the Solicitor Regulations Authority (SRA) code of conduct
- Ensure that all administration, records and files are stored and processed in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations 2018
- Promote a safe working environment in line with policies on Health and Safety, highlighting any significant deficiencies to the line manager.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:

- IT literate and have good keyboard and Microsoft Excel skills
- Numerically literate
- Minimum of 5 GCSE grades A*-C. Including both Maths and English
- Some administrative/office based experience would be an advantage

**TRAINING PLAN**:

**DEVELOPMENT/PROGRESSION PLAN**:
Once you have completed the AAT Level 2 Apprenticeship you will be enrolled onto the AAT Level 3 course to enhance and grow your accountancy and finance skills and your job title will change to Accounts Assistant.

The Accounts team is the cornerstone of our business, and we are extremely proud of the work that the team carries out on a daily basis. The Apprentice Accounts Assistant is paramount to the success of this function and the business.
