Locum Consultant Psychiatrist

The post offered is that of Locum Consultant Psychiatrist working 6PAs in the Early Intervention Service (EIS) for Psychosis in Islington.
The EIS is part of the care pathway for patients with a first episode of psychotic illnesses. The care pathway applies the recovery model of care and it delivers evidence based treatments. The postholder will primarily take responsibility for patients living in Islington alongside the other Islington EIS consultant. The EIS is based at 4 Greenland Road, London, NW1 0AX.
This locum consultant post which has been created to cover a 6 month academic secondment of the substantive consultant.
The postholder will provide joint clinical leadership to the Islington part of the EIS, alongside the other consultant psychiatrist, who works 0.8 WTE in the team. The post holder will be supported by a full time core trainee and part time foundation doctor (0.2 WTE) who is shared with the in-patient unit

C&I staff are required to reflect these values throughout their service at the Trust both:
- for people who use the services of the Trust, AND
- within their immediate teams and across the wider business of C&I.
As an applicant for this role, you are urged to demonstrate within your supporting statement a combination of evidence that reflects your competence to meet the job specification and provide examples of how C&I values are an integral part of the way you have and will continue to deliver service.
**The direct clinical care sessions will include**: assessing new referrals to the team; reviewing patients and advising on their care; contributing to risk assessment and management; helping to manage crises; conducting medication reviews; participating in CPA reviews; and providing Consultant input into the team meetings.
The EIS is an innovative service with a strong focus on continuing service development, Quality Improvement and maintaining an audit cycle, and conducting service evaluation and research. The post holder will be expected to support and contribute to these activities.
Camden and Islington has very strong academic links with the academic unit at UCL. There is a tradition of the Trust producing high quality research in the area of service delivery. The post-holder will be encouraged and supported to pursue any research interests, with the support of their academic colleagues in the UCL Department of Mental Health Sciences. Islington is a vibrant and busy Central London borough with a rich mix of cultures and ethnic groups and a diverse urban geography.
