**As an Environmental Officer, you will be required to**
- Advising on the latest environmental legislation, standards and policy to all parts of the organisation to ensure compliance.
- Identifying and managing environmental risks and implementing control measures to avoid or minimise impact through the development of procedures and training relevant personnel.
- Conducting environmental investigations including complaints, near-misses and incidents. Reporting and communicating findings, creating and disseminating environmental alerts.
- Ownership and development of the waste management plan to support recycling and waste minimisation on site.
- Implementing and conducting audits and inspection plans to monitor the performance of the environmental management system to drive continual improvement.
- Working with production and engineering teams to minimise pollution including dust and noise.
- Developing and administrating the environmental management system in line with the expectations of external ISO 14001 auditors.
- Liaising with external bodies (local authorities, insurance companies, members of the public etc.), to ensure the site meets its environmental obligations.
- Ensuring that legal and other testing and surveillance requirements are undertaken to ensure that environmental issues are adequately monitored, the results are reported and acted upon, and records are maintained.

**Requirements for the role**:

- Educated to diploma or degree level in environmental science, environmental engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Professional qualification in environmental management (e.g. IEMA NEBOSH recognised) is desirable.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of ISO 14001.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related IT systems.
- Good attention to detail when required.
- Strong communicator. Must be able to effectively communicate environmental matters to experts and non-experts.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Able to inspire and motivate others to drive and execute environmental tasks.
