This is a new and exciting opportunity to join our expanding national team of Tree and Woodland specialists. P art of the National Trust (NT) internal Consultancy Team, you'll work closely with our Tree and Woodland Advisor in the North Region. You can really make a difference by working with colleagues to deliver woodland improvement and creation across the North. You'll be providing professional advice on all aspects of tree and woodland management and supporting with operational delivery.

**Salary**:£30,225pa

**Hours**:Full time 37.5 hours per week, generally be Monday to Friday, some variation in hours from day to day depending on travelling

**Contract**:Permanent

**Location**:Ideally located around the Greater Manchester area, however we can be flexible with location. There is a mix of office and fieldwork with regular travel to sites across the Region.

What it's like to work here:You'll be joining the wider Tree and Woodland team in the North Region, working with NT colleagues in the consultancy and at properties across the Region with the support of the Tree and Woodland Advisor.

The national team has been growing over the last couple of years in response to delivering our 20m trees target and a recognition of the importance of managing our trees and woodland professionally and sustainably.

**What you'll be doing:You'll be delivering on NT National and Regional priorities for woodlands which include**:
1) **Tree planting and woodland creation**

2) **Active management of woodlands**
- Support properties with their Woodland Management Plans, including delivery using appropriate silvicultural techniques and best practice contract management

**3) Utilising NT timber internally**
- Using sustainably harvested NT timber to substitute for external timber purchases, locking up carbon for the long term

**4) Compliance with NT policy and best practice**
- Support properties with UKWAS compliance, Tree Safety Management, Tree Health issues and management of Ancient and Veteran Trees.

**Who we're looking forTo be successful in this role you'll need**:

- Technical knowledge and experience in tree and woodland management
- Problem solving ability and commitment to deliver a high quality outcomes
- Ability to communicate confidently and build strong collaborative working relationships.
