Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference. **Barnardo’s Counselling Volunteers** are fully qualified counsellors, offering a service to children and young people who have been through challenging times and are struggling with their mental health. We are looking for fully qualified counsellors, who are able to work with children up to the age of 25, with a range of support needs.
Barnardo's protects, supports and nurtures the UK's most vulnerable children. Barnardo's helps bring out the best in children - no matter who they are or what they have been through. Our volunteers help make this happen.- Tasks: Providing counselling sessions to children and young people within school/community settings over a specific number of weeks.
- Preparing resources, booking rooms and communicating with link staff in schools.
- Actively engaging in regular clinical supervision, alongside regular supervision with a nominated Barnardo's supervisor.
- Maintaining a level of practice in line with BACP Toolkit and professional counselling standards/code of practice.
- Recording information to feedback to commissioners.
- Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
- Participating fully in training and supervision.
- Volunteering within Barnardo's Values and Behaviours.- Skills: This role is suitable for Level 4 Qualified counsellors, with some experience and or understanding of working with children and young people - including a practical placement of at least 100 hours of supervised practice.
- All volunteers must be Registered with a relevant professional body e.g. BACP, PTUK, HCPC, UKCP and working towards accreditation if eligible.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
