Are you a dietitian with a genuine interest and experience in gastroenterology and gastro-surgery including intestinal failure and nutritional support?

We have an exciting opportunity for a dietitian to enhance their skills and knowledge within a rotational post which will include working in areas such as gastroenterology, hepatology, colorectal, HPB and Intestinal failure as part of our team at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust.

This is a permanent new role (1.0 WTE band 6) which will include working as part of a dynamic and flexible team.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in some gastroenterology outpatients, with the possibility of managing a small number of home enteral feeding patients.

You will also be involved with cover as part of the wider dietetic teams at NUH. The dietitian is a respected member of the multi-professional team and you will have opportunity to work closely with the team in delivering high quality nutritional care to these patient groups.

You’ll need to have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload within a supportive team.

We expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated and pro-active to develop skills, experience and service development in a supportive environment.

You would be supported by senior members of the team working in gastroenterology, hepatology, HPB, intestinal failure and oncology.

Working for our organisation

We are a large and friendly department of around 100 staff including assistants and technicians providing dietetic and nutrition support across all areas of the Trust and beyond. As a large acute teaching hospital over two main sites, NUH has a range of fantastic opportunities for staff to develop their careers within the NHS. The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH.

We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver high quality care. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This job involves working with inpatients, therefore you will be required to wear the appropriate level of PPE

**Main responsibilities**:
Provides clinically effective specialist Dietetic and Nutrition Service in given clinical area, including assessment and advice/treatment.

Acts as a source of expertise on Dietetics and Nutrition for staff, carers and patients including the provision of education and training.

Work as a member of a departmental team with the support of the appropriate team leader. The post holder may work on either campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- HCPC registered
- Qualified Dietitian ( degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent)
- Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria
- Member of the BDA
- Validated courses

Experience

Essential criteria
- Experience as a dietitian

Desirable criteria
- Experience in any of the specialist areas

Essential criteria
- Able to overcome barriers to understanding.
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training.
- Able to work as an integral member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff

- Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations.
