The team

The London consultant relations team is responsible for Schroders relationships with investment consultant firms in the UK, and the co-ordination of the consultant relation effort globally. Key consultants include Mercer, AON, Willis Towers Watson, Redington, LCP, Hymans, ISIO among others. The team is an key part of the UK Institutional new business team and represents a meaningful component of existing and new business flows, as well as the Global Institutional business. The team represents Schroders to investment consultants firms, establishing, developing and maintaining our relationships, representing the whole of Schroders to consultants with the aim of maintaining and growing our consultant intermediated business in the UK and Globally.

What you'll do

As a representative of the UK and Ireland Institutional Business, the role of Consultant Relations Associate (CRA) is pivotal in helping to drive/deliver and protect/defend consultant intermediated revenues. The CRA will do this by working closely with the team to help establish, develop and enhance relationships with the list of Institutional Investment Consultants for whom the CRA shares responsibility. The CRA will act in a supporting role to the CRD, helping him/her on the strategy and coverage plan and execution of it. This will for example include a list of individuals/roles at the relevant firms who the CRA would be tasked with building relationships with.

In addition the role will support the Head of Consultant Relationships and the other Consultant Relation Directors and Managers in servicing the Global consultants and largest UK firms.

Additionally, the role contributes to the consultant support effort, working closely with the consultant support manager. This will be achieved through providing first class support to the consultant relationship team, in line with business strategy and individual consultant demands and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- As a representative of the UK and Ireland Institutional Business Development the role is responsible for driving and developing revenue growth and protecting/defending existing consultant intermediated revenues in the UK and Ireland region.
- Arranging, organising and hosting consultant meetings: across Research, Key Influencer, Field and Ad-hoc meetings. This includes identifying, developing and enhancing consultant relationships, building and leveraging an established network of contacts to help drive/protect revenues for the UK business.
- Proactively share intelligence from external sourced to help shape investment product design.
- Lead on the Schroder Connects event series for junior consultants and wider young professionals across the investment industry.
- Maintain and implement account plans, ensure they are clear and well communicated internally.
- The role builds upon the firms existing coverage of consulting firms to enhance and strengthen the firms relationships and reputation. The focus here is on supporting proactive investment consultant relations strategies (using the Sales Academy process) to identify revenue growing opportunities and helping to protect established revenues that are at risk
- Aid in the provision of first class support to the Consultant Relationship Team including the provision of accurate, well considered questionnaire responses, RFIs, ad-hoc requests, consultant snapshot, pre-research meeting information and other requirements to further strengthen our relationships with consultants at a business and product level
- Engage with the Field Consultant initiative by taking ownership for interactions with a subset of consultants through that programme, and promptly following up with consultants following events, mailings or other engagements.
- Build a sound understanding of Schroders product offering to the institutional marketplace
- Proactively seek and implement efficiencies and improvements in service provided both to the Relationship Team and directly to Consultants
- Support the global consultant effort through coordination with other regional Schroder offices as required working closely with the team
- Represent Schroders at selected consultant focused events as required
- Where appropriate attend Schroders and external industry and consultant events to continue to further market and product knowledge
