Are you enthusiastic and keen to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Newport City Council’s residential service. We are investing significantly into our residential provision and opening new homes to offer excellent care to Newport children. Oaklands Respite/short breaks Home provides care and support to Children and Young People who have a disability and we are looking for staff who have the right values, motivation and commitment to work in this rewarding yet challenging role. You will become part of a team providing a stimulating, nurturing environment to enable our children to reach their full potential.

It is not essential that you have previous experience of working in residential settings as we recognise that individuals come with a wide range of experiences and transferable skills. We offer an excellent induction and training package, including supporting you to attain a level 3 qualification in working with Children and Young people, if you do not already have this. We also provide training and support to enable you to work in an attachment focussed way.

You will be required to work shifts on a rota basis. This includes working evenings and weekends.
