**Responsibilities**:

- To keep a high standard of appearance to contribute to the quality of care and lifestyle afforded to each client. This is particularly applicable to each client’s privacy and dignity and in respect of each client’s personal possessions.
- Understanding that your role is important to everyone who lives & works in the home - ensuring that people’s choice and needs are met with an open mind and heart
- Carry out all laundering duties including:
Safely store dirty laundry, sorted into appropriate wash loads.

Wash dry and iron all bed linen, table linen and towels which are home property and personal clothing belonging to people who live in the home.

Ensure the linen cupboard is well stocked and tidy.

Maintain general cleanliness of the laundry area including air filters and equipment.

Ensure all people who live in the homes clothing is labelled correctly.

Return laundry including personal clothing to the people who live in the home.

Ensure clothes are placed in an orderly manner in people who live in the homes draws and wardrobes.

Understand and follow wash guide instructions, and laundering requirements of a wide range of têxtiles.

Ensure that all items laundered are well presented and maintained in good condition.
- Practice says safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling of loads by assessing risk and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of people who live in the home, visitors, and team members.
- Ensure you follow all infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
- Safely handle foul linen that has been placed in a red bag, wash correctly in accordance with IPC guidelines.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are stored in a safe and tidy manner.
- To clean sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infestations.
- To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance or cannot be kept to standard through normal cleaning procedures.
- To be aware of the Health and Safety statement and of the COSHH statement.
- Advise on the supply and quantity of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate escalation to the head housekeeper of replacement goods / linen.
- To work in co-operation with the Head Housekeeper and Home Manager in maintaining standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the Care Home.
- To work to the identified and agreed cleaning schedules, without intruding on services users’ preferences.
- To have comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety issues, particularly in respect of COSHH, safe moving and handling and working within the guidelines relating to cross infection.
- To identify and report any areas of malfunction or damage to equipment, in accordance with the company’s Maintenance reporting procedures.
- To monitor and maintain effective stock control and rotation.
- To work in co-operation with all other team members.
- To ensure service users privacy, respect and dignity at all times, but especially at point of death.
- To actively promote a non-discriminatory approach to service delivery.
- To adhere to and maintain the company’s policies and procedures.
- To effectively participate in the management of any concerns or representations raised
