A Lancashire based construction consultancy business with a strong reputation of excellence in supporting design and build, refurbishment and fit-out projects throughout the North West in the education, healthcare, commercial and industrial sectors.
**The role**:
Due to growth a new opportunity has arisen for a Buyer/Senior Buyer to head up the buying department. Day to day responsibilities will include the administration and procurement of plant and material related transactions and activities, liaising with suppliers and site teams to deliver a managed procurement process for material purchases and plant hire to support the delivery of projects.
**The main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to**:
- Liaising with site and management teams and suppliers to determine plant and material requirements
- Search for and negotiate contracts with suppliers and manufacturers
- Placement of plant and material Purchase Orders on the Company’s purchasing system
- Generating and updating accurate Plant utilisation reports
- Liaising with purchase ledger to remedy invoice queries
- Establishment and maintenance of relationships with suppliers to maximise the profitability of the business
- Provision of professional and service driven assistance ensuring that material and plant orders are expedited in a timely manner
- Periodic review of the businesses hired plant commitments with management, site and commercial teams ensuring that contract committed costs are accurate and within budget
- Processing of plant and material paperwork
- Monitor inventory and plan accordingly
- Create and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Work with marketing and purchasing teams to better select products for the client base
- Monitor the company’s sales data closely and analyse the findings
- Craft purchase order and inventory reports for management
- Solve supply chain problems
- Buying experience within construction or similar is highly desirable
- Proactive with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, regularly reprioritising workloads to meet the needs of the business
- Delivering excellent service with accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Highly motivated with ability to manage own workload
- Ability to work to deadlines and work in a fast-paced working environment
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders
- Strong IT skills in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
- Previous knowledge and experience of working with a purchasing system i.e., ERP, SAP is desirable
- CIPS is desirable but not essential
