**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**liaison with**:
**Job Purpose**: As an Instructor you will work without direct supervision of a Lead Instructor / Line Manager to provide teaching and learning and associated activities in accordance with out policies and procedures. This will include instructing individuals on a 1:1 basis or leading whole class learning activities.

**Standards**:
**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. To be responsible for the planning and delivery of whole class learning activities, ensuring students are engaged in learning activities that you have planned, including providing support where necessary with literacy and numeracy.

2. To effectively manage instances of poor behaviour and any other immediate issues that arise, in accordance with Invent policies.

3. To prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

4. To promote the inclusion of all students ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn and develop, particularly supporting them to overcome barriers to learning.

5. To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable students.

6. To support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning to meet the development needs.

7. To interact with and respond positively to students and to promote positive behaviour, using effective strategies.

8. To develop positive relationships with colleagues, and working constructively as a member of the staff team.

9. To provide care and encouragement to students with disabilities or special educational needs, supporting them to participate in activities and liaising, if required, with parents / carers / other professionals as appropriate.

10. To undertake student registration.

11. To prepare the use of learning materials and create visual displays, in order to facilitate a relevant physical learning environment.

12. To invigilate internal and external tests and exams under formal conditions.

13. To undertake administrative duties associated with the for example, planning, writing reports, daily logs, incident logs and safeguarding concerns.

14. To set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.

15. To encourage participation in structured and unstructured learning activities, including play (timetabled and during breaks). To supervise students during timetabled breaks, as part of a rota

16. Supervision of students on educational visits in accordance with relevant risk assessment and guidance.

17. To be prepared to transport students to and from provision and on educational visits as required, ensuring that their vehicle is appropriately insured and inspected.

18. To support, as appropriate, in instances where pupils are unwell whilst at the provision.

19. If required, to provide ongoing medical support. Full training will be provided as necessary.

20. Experience of working with children and young people with SEN and SEMH is essential.

SPECIAL FACTORS:
Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply:

- The postholder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by their own training needs or the needs of the provision.
- Expenses will be paid in accordance with relevant policy.

This post is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. Therefore a **DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity (includes a barred list check) is an essential requirement.**
