Summary

We have an exceptional opportunity to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and professional individual to join us in our Transport and Development team on a fixed term (2 year) contract.

This Strategic Specialist role requires significant experience of highways development management, spatial and transport planning and service delivery. A demonstrable and proven record of achievement within local or central government or the private sector will be essential.

Wiltshire has a highly regarded record of securing funding and delivering major transport improvements across all modes of travel.

We are currently supporting high profile business developments in north and south Wiltshire, major housing growth proposed in Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury, as well as an unprecedented range of national infrastructure schemes (including the £1.5bn tunnel improvement along the A303 at Stonehenge).

**About the role**

You will have experience and proven ability to manage and resolve controversial and challenging issues in a complex environment, with a strong familiarity and understanding of local government structure and decision making.

This is a permanent post, contracted at 37 hours per week.

**About you**

You will need to have a passion and enthusiasm to match our own - in turn we offer an opportunity to develop your career in a forward looking environment that recognises and rewards effort.

You will need a strong familiarity and understanding of local (and emerging regional) government structure and decision making - equally familiar with external public and private groups/bodies including MP’s, Government departments (and Ministers) and Highways England, alongside a wide range of other special interest/pressure groups.

You will also have experience of having worked at a senior level in a political environment, skills in understanding and responding to different positions and taking a cross-organisational perspective

You will be a Highways or Transport professional with at least 15 years post qualification experience of transport planning and service delivery within local or central government. You will have a degree in Civil Engineering and hold Chartered Status with an appropriate body
