Apprentice Healthcare Science Practitioner

CLINICAL 1. To develop skills and knowledge in performing the following investigations (eventually independently): - a. Routine EEGs. b.
Sleep EEGs c. Portable EEGs d. Visual evoked potentials 2. Assist Medical and Healthcare Science staff in Neurophysiology with the performance of a range of Neurophysiological investigations.
These investigations include; a. Peripheral Neurophysiology. b. Multi-modality evoked potentials c.
Nerve conduction studies 3. Maintain high standards of assistance with Neurophysiological services to patients 4. Reports equipment breakdown & ensuring all equipment used is in good working order. 5.
Undertakes quality assurance procedures on equipment for clinical use e.g. full calibration on EEG equipment (internal and external) 6. Undertakes cleaning of recording equipment or any apparatus within the department including care and maintenance of electrodes 7. Participate in effective team working.
8. Contribute to the effective and efficient use of information resources, administration and data storage. 9. Contribute to the health and safety and quality assurance policies with respect to patients, staff and visitors.
10. Participate in Trust/region wide projects. 11. Promote and ensure equality, diversity and rights for all.
12. Undertake responsibility for the efficient and effective use of physical resources in own area. 13. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure service(s) meet changing healthcare needs.
14. Participate in the implementation of policies.
