This is a post-doctoral research role to contribute to and develop the research work on the project “_Tracking food quality at the bottom of marine food webs using machine learning and satellite remote-sensing_”. Crucial for marine-resource conservation, environmental protection, food security and sustainable development of the ocean is to advance our capability for operationally monitoring novel ecological changes in the marine environments.

The PDRA will be based at the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Reading (UoR), UK. The University of Reading is one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities and, based on research power, is one of the top three UK universities for Earth Systems and Environmental Science (ESES). The UoR has strong involvement in the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) and the project will benefit from the remote sensing and modelling experts at the NCEO.

The PDRA will have:

- Excellent computer skills e.g. coding in R/Python/MATLAB or similar
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of satellite remote sensing and marine ecosystems
- Record of publishing high-quality peer-reviewed papers
- Strong motivation to work with multidisciplinary team
