Airport Coordinator

Hailsham, United Kingdom Bede's Summer School Full time

We are looking for a small number of well-organised, resourceful, confident and reliable Airport Coordinators who will manage the whole transfer operation at an airport terminal in order to provide students with a smooth, safe and efficient transfer service from the airport to their centre.

**Qualifications**:
No specific qualifications are required for this role.

Experience
- Some experience of working with children is required for this post.
- Some experience of working in a similar operational role is preferable, but not essential, as full training will be given.

Compensation

**£175** per day.

Statutory holiday pay (currently 5.6 weeks per year) is paid pro-rata with each salary payment.

Transport to and from the Airport is provided by the Summer School.

Working Hours

Airport Coordinators work Saturdays 7.30am to 9.30pm and Sundays 8.30am to 10.30pm (Including the journey time to and from the airport). Working times may vary depending on the Airport and week. Staff based out of the Heathrow Terminals will be given the option to stay in one of the nearby hotels on the Saturday evening.

Working Day

After an early morning brief at our Head Office in Upper Dicker, Airport Coordinators travel to a London Airport - usually Gatwick or Heathrow - where they will be based the whole day.

Airport Coordinators make sure our students are safely met and escorted to their Centre by the appropriate member of Bede’s staff as efficiently as possible. They need to be helpful and welcoming, and to take responsibility for some students for a time, particularly Unaccompanied Minors and students who have not yet been met by the staff member responsible for escorting them to the Centre.

Arrival and Departure days are very long and the working environment at the airport can be highly pressured, especially on our busiest days when hundreds of students arrive or depart. There are often delays, last-minute changes to schedules and a variety of issues to resolve in a calm, collaborative and professional manner. The vital task of making sure all our students have a smooth and safe transfer requires much resilience, humour and patience.

The working day is challenging and can be very tiring, but there is a strong feeling of camaraderie and team-work and a real sense of achievement in helping us ensure our students have a positive Summer School experience from the moment we welcome them to the UK and again at the end of their stay when they leave our care
