**Description of Department**:
The Commissioners Staff Office supports the Chief Officers and their portfolios, and also supports the implementation of the Policing Plan. This specific role falls under the remit of ‘Our People’. Rewarding and recognising colleagues and those who volunteer to support us, is one of the primary ways we can demonstrate how we value our workforce.

This is a new post dedicated to co-ordinate and deliver on all the ways in which we manage and lead on awards, rewards and recognition, for officers, staff and volunteers (serving and retired).The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the Wellbeing programme.

The post holder works as part of the Commissioner’s Office support team and reports to an Inspector (within the Commissioner’s Officer). There is a need to be flexible to support the wider office team in supporting the Chief Officers, specifically the Assistant Commissioner leading on R&R and Wellbeing. In return, the Staff Office team will also be supporting the post holder in their tasks and events as necessary.

The role is predominantly Monday to Friday office hours, with evenings and weekends as required.

**Role Description**:

- Maintaining and refreshing the R&R guidance and toolkit as appropriate
- Managing Commendation and Honoraria submissions
- Hold the administrative function for the R&R panel with Chief Officer and Directorate Leads
- Supporting the Wellbeing programme as required
- Managing submissions for National and out of force awards e.g. National Honours and Gallantry awards, Humane Society, Humanitarian Medal, Society for Protection of Life from Fire (this is not an exhaustive list)
- Organising R&R commendation and awards events,
- Organising the categories, nominations, and Annual Force Awards events
- Liaise closely with HR to organise the presentation of Long Service Medals and Long Service Bars
- Organise and liaise with HR with regards to the order and presentation of the Silver Police Officer and certificates of service
- Organise the delivery programme for any additional awards e.g. Coins, Medals etc.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.

**Essential criteria**:

- Excellent planning and organising skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including correspondence and report writing skills.
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative and with mínimal supervision.
- Flexibility and good team working skills including office cover when required.
- Good resilience
- MS office skills
- Be willing to be vetted to SC level.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Hold current A-B police driving permit.
- Experience in event planning.
