G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) successfully manages five prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts across England and Wales. About the role
HMP & YOI Parc is a fast paced complex and challenging environment.
You will be managing a team of direct reports responsible for delivering the day to day operation of the Young Persons Unit working with a multi-disciplinary team.
You will manage all aspects of the Young Persons Unit, ensuring consistent cost effective service delivery in accordance with contractual and Company requirements and legislation.
In addition, as part of the YOI, the role will require you to promote a child centred approach which prioritises both the safeguarding of the children’s welfare and wellbeing, as well as ensuring that a stable and secure environment is provided for all the children and employees within the unit.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role are:
- Manage the day to day operation of the Young Persons Unit, providing direction to senior and operational managers, so that service delivery and resource utilisation are optimised,
- Oversee the delivery of the residential function through senior managers and front line employees,
- Liaise with key stakeholders to resolve contractual issues whilst practising continuous improvement to ensure the interests of the contract and Company are protected,
- Deliver effective financial and commercial control to deliver within budget,
- Manage the development and effective implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the contract and relevant standards,
- Coach and support the team to maximise their performance and ensure values, ethical standards, diversity, equity and inclusion policies and procedures and contractual requirements are met,
- Monitor contract performance within the operational areas ensuring issues are addressed proactively and a cost effective contractually compliant service is delivered,
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of an effective Safeguarding and Violence Reduction system, to minimise self-harm and incidents of violence and restraint within the Young Persons Unit,
- Work collaboratively with specialist agencies and organisations to develop opportunities to support young people with their individual needs,
You will need to be able to promote an environment that is clean, decent and respectful to the young people in our care, ensuring that their safety and wellbeing is at the heart of all that we do.
You will also need to be highly organised, always being prepared for regular external audits and inspections whilst having the ability to drive and deliver innovation to improve the unit.
**About you**
Leading by example, we are looking for a highly motivated and determined leader, with the ability to be resilient, confident with a tenacious can-do attitude, have the ability to embrace complexity and be a part of a busy and fast paced senior management team.
As the Head of the Young Persons Unit, it is essential that you have substantial current experience of working within a custodial environment; and have the ability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging setting. You will also need experience in working with children and young people and to have a passion for understanding and advocating for their needs.
The role requires working with a wide range of stakeholders in a high profile environment and it is key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios.
