**Job Profile**
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven person to join one of the UK’s largest international development agencies and work in our media team. Some experience in a similar role would beneficial but is not essential.
We are looking for someone who:

- Can think creatively about how best to promote our work and our partners
- Is passionate about international development and our mission
- Has the ability or interest in pitching news stories to journalists

CAFOD offers a range of flexible working options, with this role being offered as working 40% of the time in our London head office
**Who we are**
CAFOD is part of one of the world’s largest aid networks (Caritas Internationalis) which has a presence in 193 countries and is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.
We stand alongside some of the most hard-to-reach communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, working through the Catholic and secular organisations to reach people of all faiths and none and places that others can’t.
**Skills and experience**
Do you have:

- The ability to craft interesting content which grabs attention of a variety of audiences
- A willingness to learn and develop your skills
- An understanding of how to use social media to amplify media profile
- The ability to build positive and constructive relationships with stakeholders, including journalists and internal partners
- A passion for international development and an ethos that puts people at the heart of all your work

**Person specification**
We are looking for someone with the experience below. However, if you don’t meet the criteria, but have a passion for creative writing or international development we may make an exception.
**Essential criteria**
- The willingness to try and secure media coverage, or being able to demonstrate the ability to write interesting content
- A passion for international development and the values of CAFOD

**Desirable criteria**
- Some experience working in a PR or creative agency, a charity, press office or any media related role

- Communicating: Has good verbal and written skills - a warm and approachable manner. Can share ideas, knowledge, and information with colleagues. Is confident working with senior members of the organisation - able to prepare them for broadcast interviews, or verbally brief on an issue.

- Managing resources: Uses information systems and processes to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Achieving results: Has a clear sense of purpose while prioritising several media pitches. Can be relied upon to meet deadlines.
- Managing our performance: Is a self-organiser, able to work to tight deadlines often under pressure. Willingly takes responsibility for getting work done, working systematically with accuracy. Readily shares ideas, knowledge and expertise with Media Team colleagues and others.
