North Star is special. We source special coffees grown by extraordinary people and, in doing so, we bring special moments of joy to the days of many. As we enter our tenth year in business, we are eagerly stepping into the next stage which will see us transitioning from the pioneer/start-up phase we have been in to one that seeks to unlock the potential that we have to create true and meaningful impact and to build a business that we (owners, employees, customers, suppliers) can be proud of.
Key to doing so is an effective and high performing marketing function. We have invested a lot of time in determining who our target customer is, how we can engage with them and what success will look like. To support the execution of our ongoing marketing strategy, we are introducing the role of Content Creator to develop and implement successful marketing campaigns for the business, helping to exceed North Star’s targets in both our roastery and coffee shops. Crucially, doing so in a manner that sees us innovating and contributing to our industry to cement our position as leader, not follower.
We are determined to realise the ‘star status’ we know we have and we see this role as being instrumental in helping us get there.
- Job Brief_
We are looking for a creative coffee lover, someone who is tuned into the industry and the space North Star takes up in it, who understands how we can set ourselves apart from the competition. You will be someone who understands our brand aesthetic and who enjoys coming up with ideas and content that are new and engaging. Creating content (photography, reels, print, videos and digital assets/editing) comes naturally to you.
You will be responsible for creating, managing and distributing all content for all aspects of the North Star brand capturing everything from sourcing, roasting and brewing (in our own retail sites and also accounting for our wholesale customer network). You will work closely with every department in our business, developing and executing content campaigns that align with the goals of the wider business, engaging our target audience and strengthening our brand identity. You will be responsible for customer interaction on all digital channels, creating community in the comments/DMs and jumping on any opportunity to capture/convert/nurture/engage and retain new and existing customers. You will also monitor and analyse content engagement, refining what you do in response to performance, ensuring all content is optimised for its intended platform.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Plan and create new content for various media and social platforms. This includes YouTube shorts, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
- Develop and maintain a consistent and engaging content calendar to ensure timely and consistent delivery of content across all digital channels.
- Identify content opportunities for the business (Roastery, Coffee Shops and B2B) across all marketing touch points and in line with our strategy.
- Deliver excellent customer service through all social platforms.
- Ensure that all content is optimized for search engines and social media platforms, with a focus on maximizing visibility and engagement.
- Produce, plan, co-ordinate filming and photography in line with the brand guidelines.
- Support the organisation of events, including trade shows, community, and networking.
- Be present at all events to capture content.
ROLE SPECIFIC LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Build effective relationships with all departments, prioritising the greater good of the business in any interactions and navigating challenges effectively.
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategy.
- Representing North Star positively and in a manner in keeping with our company values in all external and internal partnerships, delivering clear briefs and feedback when needed.
- Develop expenditure proposals to support business activities/improvement initiatives and manage a budget from proposal through to project completion.
- Champion the brand and ensure that all digital content is consistent with brand guidelines and tone of voice, aligning with North Star’s mission and values.
- Explore ways in which we can accelerate our brand further and keep up with new marketing activities and platforms.
