**Playworker Job Purpose**: Playworkers organise, plan and take part in play and leisure activities for children, usually before and after school, as well as during the school holidays.

Our Playworkers care and supervise the children, making sure they are safe and happy.

**Playworker Job Duties**:

- Setting up the club to create a safe and secure play environment ready for when children arrive
- Meeting and greeting children and their families
- Signing in children on the register as they arrive
- Communicating with parents/carers and/or teachers
- Supervise children effectively to ensure they are safe
- Support a variety of play opportunities for children aged 4 - 11 years
- Participate in children’s play as and when requested by the children.
- Plan and deliver a range of exciting activities based on the children’s interests.
- Encourage children to participation in new activities to expand their interests
- Celebrate diversity and promote inclusive practice
- Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with the day-to-day running of the club
- Commitment to safeguarding the children in our care

**Skills/Qualifications**:

- Caring and sensitive to children’s individual needs
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS.
- Active and energetic. Prepared to get involved in children’s play.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Playwork Principles
- Good communication skills
- Team player and ability to use initiative
- Prepared to train and learn new skills
- Basic IT skills
- 2 GSCEs grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalent

**Desirable skills/qualifications**
- Previous childcare and/or Playwork experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Playwork/Childcare
- Current Paediatric First Aid certificate
- Food Hygiene Level 2 or 3
- Basic safeguarding training
- Current and valid driving licence

**Hours & Pay**

Salary ranges from £10.40p/h - £11.50p/h

Split shift: 07:25 - 08:55 and 15:00 - 18:00 from Monday - Friday during term time
