Sales Engineer required for expanding sub-contract metal component manufacturer. Our client is a leading engineering service provider offering full process control of subcontract manufacturing services, with machining capabilities from 3mm diameter to 50tonne components. The company works primarily in the defence, nuclear, renewables and oil and gas sectors and operates from a secure, integrated manufacturing facility in Newcastle upon Tyne. This Engineering company provides solutions which support customersfrom initial concept, through material selection and sourcing, to manufacturing, assembly and test.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Sales Engineer is responsible for sales proposals, technical customer relationship management and driving profitable sales.

Sales Engineer responsibilities:

- In support of the bid/no bid process, review requests for quotations received from external and internal customers confirming drawing requirements are within comapny capabilities and capacity.
- Build compliant sales proposals considering all customer drawing requirements and specifications.
- Engage and negotiate with material and treatment subcontractors to formulate requests for quotations in line customer requirements.
- Critically review subcontract proposals to ensure compliance to our request for quotation.
- Build sales proposals ensuring required levels of margin are achieved.
- Support the Business Development Manager by attending customer meetings as the technical lead.
- Engaging with customers to support design for manufacture projects and discussions.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering & Quality teams to provide proactive manufacturing solutions.
- Identify opportunities for improvement to drive efficiencies and margin improvement.
- To respond to customer requests for quotations within a timely manner.
- Mentoring and training other members of the team where required.
- Domestic and international travel as required.
- Ensure customers, contractors, visitors and other applicable third parties when on site comply with BEL’s health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.

**Sales Engineer Person Specification**
- Significant experience and understanding of the manufacturing industry within a build to print precision machining business.
- Experience of manufacturing components for various industries (Defence, Nuclear and Aerospace).
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
- Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project.

**Competencies**
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptable to a changing work environment.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to build, develop and manage customer and internal relationships.
- Analytical with strong problem solving abilities.
- Results driven with a can do attitude.

**Qualifications
- A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, HNC or equivalent.

Working hours are 35 per week.
