**About the role**

Student Activities are one of the defining features of University life. This role will be part of a team of two coordinators and one manager, supporting our range of student societies and related student activities. The two coordinators work closely together to ensure a seamless and high-quality support service is provided to societies and their leaders
- “I have never been so excited to perform in my life The society has done so much for my confidence”_

As societies reflect the breadth of student experience, the Student Activities Team are an integral part of the Union and work closely across the Union with wellbeing, representation, operations, and marketing.

The benefit to students is immense. Our students cite their involvement in societies as a reason for not just enjoying their time at university but even for continuing with studies, while those who take part in society committees have developed new skills and confidence. From regular meetings and socials to national competitions, putting on large scale performances and graduation balls to trips overseas, our societies offer students a world of opportunity.

The purpose of this role is to ensure Northumbria has a framework for a wide range of dynamic societies who are ambitious to deliver a great experience for their members.

The six main areas of the role can be described as follows

**Administrative **Ensuring that societies follow the Union’s requirements from health and safety to financial processes. The Union aims to balance robust processes which meet our obligations to members with limited bureaucracy to avoid dissuading students from participating.

Administrative tasks include, but are not limited to, completing society risk assessments, tracking constitution forms, supporting the student led grant distribution process and ensuring that society data and the Students’ Union Management System is kept up to date.

Encouraging societies to actively engage with the union and utilise our spaces is key to creating a vibrant student community. A key part of the role is to efficiently handle society room booking requests, ensuring that our event management software is kept up to date.

**Event Management **Events are a vital part of student experience at Northumbria. We work alongside society committees to oversee the event planning and lead on the delivery of a various range of exciting social and cultural events. We utilise our event management system and write comprehensive event plans to ensure the smooth running of all events that take place in the Union.

**Member satisfaction **Working with society committees to ensure that the members of societies have a great time and that committees are thinking how to make their activities enjoyable and inclusive. Societies should not only meet our minimum standards for members but go further to achieve our highest standards.

**Committee satisfaction** We never lose sight of the fact that society committees are volunteers. We work with committee members to ensure that their t
