Production Supervisor

W.G. Buchanan & Son Ltd are a family owned and operated company that has been sourcing and supplying whole food ingredients since 1871. Our Buchanans brand was best known for "Soup Mix". We operate from a twin site in Carrickfergus with seperate processing and warehousing facilities for allergen / nut products.

We are seeking a dedicated Production Supervisor / Trainee Manager to join our team in the food industry. Working in a busy environment, you will play a key role in delivering excellence and continous improvments. The role will involve the following:

- To ensure the efficient operation of the Production function, and also provide input into Quality, Logistics and H&S.
- Lead and motivate your team to ensure company objectives and output is met
- Ensure your team is trained adequately and any training needs highlighted and actioned alongside Training Manager
- Formulate Production forecasts alongside Business Director to ensure customer service levels are met. Review and manage Production Output with various sub teams / production lines
- Liaise and build relationships with relevant suppliers (machinery / consumables)
- Ensure production quality standards are upheld in line with relevant 3rd party accreditations
- Manage routine internal maintenance tasks and work alongside 3rd party maintenance engineers in ensuring all plant is in optimum condition
- Assist with Health & Safety of the Production area promoting a safety first attitude, with a view to taking on full responsibility after relevant completion of training
- Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet demand and work alongside HR dept in recruitment process
- Ensure GMP (Good manufacturing practice) is carried out effectively and actions resolved in a timely manner
- Work alongside Quality Dept. in ensuring Production in carried out according to correct procedures and SOPS are followed and making recommendations for improvement where necessary
- Ensure all Production areas are cleaned in accordance with Hygiene Procedures
- Work with Logistics Dept. in ensuring timely flow of raw materials and packed products
- Ensure warehouse areas are compliant with relevant H&S and adequately maintained
- Work closely with Quality Dept. to ensure QMS is effective and CCPs are fully controlled
- Keyholder Responsibilities

Experience / Criteria:
Relevant Production Supervisory Experience, ideally in a food environment

Good team player with ability to work on own initiative

IT Proficient (MS Office) and some knowledge of accounting systems

Knowledge of 3rd party QA systems (e.g SALSA, BRCGS, ISO etc)

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Knowledge of H&S legislation

A "can-do" attitiude along with relevant experience will accelerate career progression.

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
