**Job purpose**

We require a qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic Careers professional to lead on this key area of provision. As the Careers Lead, you will have strategic oversight for the delivery and development of Careers and will line manage the Careers team.

The success of the Careers Department will depend on the strength of our relationships with external partners and networks. Key partners include universities, businesses, employers and local/national enterprise organisations. The ability to manage these relationships and ensure the Collegiate contributes to the local, national and international labour market is essential.

This will be a busy role and require strong prioritisation skills, no two days will be the same.

**Key Tasks**

Strategic Planning and Management
- Work with the Academic Director and Head of Staff and Department Management to develop and implement an exciting and forward-thinking Careers Department Development Plan
- Ensure the QE Collegiate Careers Provision follows all government legislation, best practice and industry guidance
- Ensure current best practice and industry guidelines are met and evidenced.
- Effectively line manage the other members of the Careers Department to ensure an efficient, capable, happy and healthy team, providing training and advice as needed
- Keeping up to date with the jobs market, providing literature and information to key staff as required

Administration
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of student university and other destinations for internal and external use
- Support the Academic Director in the analysis of student destination information for future planning

Support for students
- Oversee and deliver a comprehensive Careers programme, taught to years 6-13 through Personal Development lessons, General Studies lessons and in the Form Tutor Programme
- Maintain strong links with Chapter House Preparatory school to ensure the younger students gain an early appreciation of the world of work
- Help all students to make informed career decisions at each stage of their school journey through individual careers appointments, year group assemblies, provision of online and written information and online advice
- Oversee and implement high quality information and training for Early Applicant students to maximise their chances of receiving highly competitive university offers
- Preparing students for employment/interviews/building skills

Support for staff
- Provide regular training and CPD to all staff to build their knowledge and skills in delivering careers advice
- Offer support and guidance for staff willing to undertake Level 6 qualification in CIAG
- Work with Super Curriculum coordinators and careers champions in departments and boarding staff with regards provision of opportunities for our students and careers conversations

External links
- Develop a comprehensive local and national external network for work experience and future roles for our students, working closely with OE Alumni via the Alumni and Widening Participation Officer and Marketing Team
- Further develop a comprehensive programme of Speakers/trips linked to careers and the current job market for all key stages
- Manage and maintain contacts with higher education establishments, along with various professional bodies relevant to the worlds of industry and commerce and with careers guidance support organisations such as ISCO and COA
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing information on the work of the Careers department and opportunities for their children
