A unique opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join the Eden Project Events department, who have been responsible for hosting exciting events such as the G7 Royal reception; Antiques Roadshow; Anthropy and a lot more

Within the role you will be liaising with clients from concept through to delivery and being the main point of contact on the day ensuring the clients vision is fulfilled. You will be working across a broad spectrum of events, so will need to ensure that your communication and attention to detail is impeccable, whilst always maintaining your enthusiasm for each event.

Job Family Definition
Roles within the Hospitality job family are dedicated to sourcing, creating and serving innovative, exciting and delicious food and drink in a variety of catering environments across Eden, enhancing visitors experience, understanding and enjoyment of their visit.

Role Purpose
Co-ordinates event planning and operational delivery to exceed client expectations. Will work with initial enquiries to develop client concepts to deliver agreed events which support departmental profitability and enhance Eden’s reputation as a world class venue.

Key Accountabilities

1. Represents the Eden Project and the Event’s team, delivering the highest standards of customer care to clients and members of the public.
2. Communicating with clients from initial enquiries and building relationships to discussing individual requirements for event delivery.
3. Compiling and communicating all relevant information for client events to ensure that all the necessary information is disseminated amongst the relevant Eden teams to ensure smooth operational delivery.
4. Ensures the efficient running of each event including ordering of stock to relevant event locations and liaising with chefs regarding event specific menus, timings and dietary requirements. Ensures all staff working the events understand and adhere to food safety standards and allergen handling processes through effective training and information dissemination.
5. Supervise the Event’s operational team to ensure that client needs are met and that the highest standards of customer service are delivered at all times, including supervising the deployment of the (FoH) service team to maximise efficiencies for each event.
6. Develops and maintains a broad knowledge of the Eden site, its venues and their capabilities. Develops knowledge of seasonal menus to suggest options to clients and make informed choices regarding dietary requirements.
7. Stores, displays and prepares food and beverages in accordance with food hygiene regulations and health & safety requirements, ensuring the safety and welfare of visitors, staff and volunteers. Assists with stock checks as directed.
8. Supervises cash handling and the accurate management of tills and cash float within each venue. Ensuring all transactions are handled in accordance with Eden's financial control procedures being accountable for any discrepancies that arise relating to daily takings in each till both at events and in the office environment.
9. Supervises the effective communication and dissemination of information to the team relating to the seasonal programs, ensuring that all staff are informed and updated with all relevant information.

Demands of the Role
Education & qualifications
A current CIEH Level 3 certificate in Supervising Food Safety in Catering and in Health and Safety in the Workplace is essential for this role. The jobholder is required to have a high standard of literacy.
An NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant area foundation degree or higher desirable. A driving license is essential due to the needs of the role to use Eden vehicles to deliver events around site
Knowledge & skills
The job holder will have gained a minimum of two years’ experience within a fast-past events environment, which is to include the supervision of staff. Furthermore, they must have extensive knowledge of hospitality service.

Responsible for making event specific decisions daily including decisions relating to staff deployment and ordering the relevant stock for each event, such decisions are always related to the individual event design and numbers
Complex decisions that need to take into consideration a range of stakeholders including clients, delegates, employees, the site and business partners will be escalated to the line manager.
Resourcefulness
Required to input and feed back to the line manager to assist in ways to devise innovative and creative ways to improve our own events, client events and the customer journey as well as revenue streams.
